The Light-years Beneath My Feet In this wacky space opera, second volume of the Taken trilogy, a human abducted by aliens faces new challenges as he struggles back across the galaxy toward Earth. Having been rescued from the Vilenjji, a group of aliens who kidnapped him with the intention of selling him as a pet on a distant planet, Chicago commodities trader Marcus Marc Walker alien human kidnap and his former fellow captives/newfound friends--talking dog George; giant, versifying Braouk; alien human kidnap and brilliant, sardonic Sque--settle on the planet Seremathenn, the genteel, technologically sophisticated home of their saviors. Needing something to do, George trains as a chef, alien human kidnap and his culinary skills as well as his novelty value attract another alien race, the Niyyuu, who invite him to their planet, where the political system is built around a highly structured civil war that has been ongoing for 9,000 years.
